Most businesses overpay for social media in one of two ways: they buy a package with more volume than they can execute, or they choose the cheapest option and end up with content that doesn’t reflect their brand.
This guide helps you avoid both traps.
Start with your actual business phase
The right plan depends on where you are, not where you want to be.
Early stage (just getting started or restarting): Focus on consistency over volume. 8–12 posts per month across 1–2 channels is better than 30 inconsistent posts across 5 channels.
Growth stage (established presence, ready to scale): Increase reel volume, add a second channel, consider paid ads. But only if you have the operational capacity to keep up with approvals and content input.
Mature stage (multiple channels, ads active): Full operation with ads management, community management, and regular reporting. This is where higher-volume plans make sense.
The volume question: how many posts do you actually need?
A common mistake is equating more posts with better results. The algorithm rewards quality and consistency over raw volume.
For most small and medium businesses:
- Instagram: 3–4 reels + 4–6 static posts or carousels per month is solid
- Facebook: mirrors Instagram or slightly reduced frequency
- TikTok: higher frequency if you can produce the volume — 8–12 per month minimum
Start with what you can sustainably execute. You can always increase.
The channel question: don’t activate what you can’t maintain
Being present on 5 channels and posting inconsistently on all of them is worse than being excellent on 2.
Choose channels based on where your audience actually is, not where you think you should be.
What to look for in pricing transparency
Before committing to any plan, you should know:
- Exactly what’s included: every format, every channel, every deliverable
- What the approval process looks like: how many rounds, what’s the timeline
- What happens if you need more: is it a separate charge or adjustable?
- What the exit looks like: how much notice, any penalties?
If a provider can’t answer these clearly, that’s a signal.
